                                                 Grip Mount Puller Instructions

General
The Grip Mount Puller consists of the Body, Plate, Bolts (6), Hammer, Shaft and Nut. This tool is a slide hammer design in which the Hammer is slammed against the end of the Shaft, driving the grip mount, which is clamped in the Body/Plate assembly, out of the receiver. The grip mount must be pulled straight out the front end of the receiver. Nothing but the barrel and friction hold the grip mount in place. That is not to say that the grip mount will fall out of the receiver. For a proper fit, it should have been driven into the receiver with force when installed. After having been there awhile, dirt and rust may add to holding the grip mount in place. It is critical to remove it without bending or damaging its projection that fits behind the barrel (which is how it is held in place) or damaging the front end of the receiver.

Grip Mount Removal
The barrel MUST be removed from the receiver before the grip mount can be removed. Also remove the forearm or foregrip. Remove the Plate from the Body. Place the Body under the grip mount with the Shaft and Hammer out front of the receiver. Place the grip mount in the slot in the Body. Place the Plate on top of the grip mount and bolt it to the Body, clamping the grip mount in the Body. It is best to hold the receiver above the Puller by hand so that the Puller hangs downward. This will eliminate stressing the receiver or grip mount. While holding the receiver with one hand, raise the Hammer up the Shaft with the other hand and then slam it downward. Unfortunately, not having a third hand to hold the grip mount, the Puller and grip mount will probably end up on the floor so take that into consideration by having the end of the Puller close to the floor to begin with and maybe a little padding. The critical consideration is not to put any bending stress on the grip mount.

Grip Mount Installation
The Puller can be left on the grip mount and be used to drive the grip mount into a receiver by slamming the Hammer in the opposite direction. However, always be sure there is no dirt or other obstruction in the receiver pocket. It is critical that, when in installing a grip mount, the projection on top of the grip mount which goes into the slot on the front face of the receiver, ends up flush or below flush with the receiver face. The installed barrel must not rest on the grip mount projection when it is installed.
