THOMPSON DVD

“THE THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN”:   Rimfire Productions, 2 hours.  This is a great   DVD for the person who wants a comprehensive introduction to the Thompson Submachine Gun.  It also provides a close look at very rare Thompsons which even the advanced collector will probably never have a chance to personally inspect.  The DVD covers the entire history of the gun starting with the pistol John Blish built to demonstrate the principle of metallic adhesion  for his patent upon which all development of the TSMG was based.  Pre-1921 prototypes are shown as well as the production models, variations, and modifications.  World War II guns are covered along with war-time developed prototypes.  The 1919, 30-06, T-2, BSA, and .30 carbine prototypes, carrying cases and other accessories are shown.  Disassembly, assembly, loading, and shooting the Thompsons are shown.  A 1921 gun fitted with a 100 cartridge capacity Type “C” drum is fired with tracers.  A four-page critique of the DVD by Doug Richardson correcting the few factual errors is included. (Photo is of the video which is no longer available)
