Trigger Housing Assembly Pins Instructions
General
All the trigger housing internal components are held in place in the trigger
housing cavity by the pivot plate axis pins. The front axis pin is called the
trigger group axis pin. The rear pin is called the sear group axis pin. The pins
are a precision fit in their respective trigger housing holes both as to the
diameter of the holes and the distance between them. If everything fits and
works properly, assembly of the trigger housing components is simply a matter of
positioning all the component parts in their proper place in the cavity and then
installing the pivot plate by pushing its axis pins thru the trigger housing and
the components. The problem is that several of the components have springs
fitted in them and so the components must be forced into position and held there
while the pivot plate is being installed. People with three hands have no
trouble doing this but those with only two hands have some difficulty. And, that
is only when everything fits and works. If there is a problem, it is very
difficult to re-install the pivot plate time after time during the process of
trying to fix what ever problem exists. Since the problem may be in the trigger
group or in the sear group or in both, things get complicated. The Trigger
Housing Assembly Pins were designed to replace the pivot plate pins to
facilitate trigger housing components work by providing a separate axis pin for
only the trigger group and another axis pin for only the sear group. That
enables either group to be worked on separately without interference from the
other group. In addition, the Trigger Housing Assembly Pins are precision ground
to the exact size of the largest pivot plate pins in accordance with the
original drawings. That acts as a check on the hole sizes in the trigger
housing. If the Trigger Housing Assembly Pins do not fit in the trigger housing
holes, then a properly made pivot plate might not fit either.
Use
Although the pivot plate enters the trigger housing from the right side, it is
recommended that the Trigger Housing Assembly Pins be installed from the left
side. Doing that saves time. When the trigger housing problem has been solved
and is working properly with both Trigger Housing Assembly Pins in place on the
left side of the trigger housing, the pivot plate can be installed from the
right side easily by using it to push the Trigger Housing Assembly Pins back out
as it is being installed. That solves the problem for those who do not have
three hands.
