Pivot Plate Tool Instructions
General
The pivot plate consists of the trigger axis pin and sear axis pin connected to
a spring steel plate with two arms which secure the safety lever and rocker
pivot lever which also hold the pivot plate in place on the side of the trigger
housing. To remove the safety and rocker pivot levers, the arms of the pivot
plate must be forced downward enough to clear the retaining grooves in the
levers. The trick is to do that without scratching the trigger housing which is
what usually happens when a screwdriver or other pry is used. The Pivot Plate
Tool consists of a round handle with a steel blade attached. The sides of the
blade are rounded and the end is polished smooth. The smooth surface prevents
scratching. Using an aluminum or brass blade is not recommended because the soft
aluminum or brass tends to rub off permanently filling pores in the trigger
housing surface and disfiguring the finish. Plastic is just too soft to work.
Removal
Insert the Pivot Plate Tool blade end between the pivot plate arms with the
forward edge just below the rocker pivot. Turn the Tool counterclockwise until
the pivot plate arm clears the safety and withdraw the safety. Reposition the
Tool in the space above the rocker pivot arm and again turn the Tool until the
rocker pivot can be withdrawn. Press the ends pf the pivot plate axis pins into
the trigger housing or, if need be, use a small plastic hammer to drive the ends
of the pivot plate axis pins into the trigger housing. Insert the blade of the
Tool between the trigger housing and the now raised pivot plate plate. Rotate
the tool alternately adjacent to each pin, working the pivot plate out of the
trigger housing until it can be withdrawn by hand.
Installation
The Tool is not used to install the pivot plate. That is done by hand.
