THOMPSON MODELS

Model of 1919 (Production) Thompson Submachine Gun

Although probably less than 10 were made, this was the first production TSMG to be offered for sale.  Front sights were added as production progressed.  This model did not have a rear sight other than the slot in the actuator (bolt handle) knob.  There was also no provision for a buttstock.  This gun is shown with the various magazines which were available for it.

Model of 1921 (Colt) Thompson Submachine Gun

This gun is shown fitted with a 100 cartridge capacity ("Type "C") drum magazine.  50 cartridge capacity (Type "L") drum magazines  were also available as were 20 cartridge capacity (Type "XX") box magazines & 18 cartridge capacity box magazines designed for shot cartridges.  All 15,000 TSMGs made by Colt looked like this.   Any variations from this configuration were done later by others.
